About the client - Solving climate change with the world’s mightiest seaweed

Symbrosia is a Hawai’i-based cleantech startup that cultivates fast-growing seaweed strains and develops them into high-value products. Symbrosia has developed SeaGraze™, a natural seaweed feed additive that drastically reduces livestock methane emissions. Called “the seaweed that could save the planet” by The Verge, Forbes, and Inc. Magazine, SeaGraze™ is setting a new standard for sustainability in the U.S. beef, dairy, and apparel industries. In June 2022, Symbrosia raised a $7 million funding round led by Danone Manifesto Ventures. Symbrosia is scaling SeaGraze™ production rapidly and partnering with researchers, ranchers, distributors, and brands to build supply chains that reward producers for producing low-methane animal products.

GOAL

Our scope for Symbrosia included oversight of all marketing and branding deliverables, encompassing annual marketing plans, fundraising materials and budgets. Furthermore, we played a pivotal role in the strategic planning and execution of events, notably at Climate Week NYC and the pioneering low-methane beef sensory tasting event in Portland, Oregon, in collaboration with Oregon State University, Carman Ranch and Neutral Foods.

Additional responsibilities encompassed comprehensive management of marketing and communications initiatives, partnerships and content for the brand. This entailed conceptualizing and planning all creative and media content across Symbrosia's social platforms, specifically focusing on Instagram and LinkedIn. Including the supervision of interns, graphic designers and videography teams as well as managing and fostering key partnerships with influencers, education institutions and non-profits.

SOCIAL MEDIA - Nurturing Minds with Seaweed Science

The social media strategy is designed to engage and educate the audience on the science behind seaweed, its environmental impact, and the innovative solutions and products Symbrosia offers by creating fun and easy-to-understand social media content.

Our Objectives:

  1. Educational Content: Develop and share informative content about the nutritional value of seaweed, its role in sustainable agriculture, and its potential impact on climate change mitigation.

  2. Science Behind Seaweed: Highlight the scientific research and innovations that support Symbrosia's products, showcasing the company's commitment to evidence-based solutions.

  3. Engagement and Community Building: Foster and build a community of seaweed enthusiasts, scientists, and environmentally conscious individuals by encouraging discussions, sharing user-generated content, and responding to comments and questions.

Events

Our communications tactics includes selection and meticulous oversight and planning of strategic events that showcase the innovative essence of the company. In September 2023 we executed a sophisticated Low Methane Milkshake Bar in partnership with Organic Valley at Climate Week NYC in collaboration with The Nest Climate Campus. This initiative seamlessly integrated the brand's commitment to environmental responsibility with a unique and engaging culinary experience.

Notably, in October 2023 we orchestrated a distinguished Low Methane Beef Tasting event at Tusk Restaurant in Portland, drawing an attendance of over 100 media, influencers and influential sustainability enthusiasts. This gathering served as an immersive experience, curated to highlight the sustainable and eco-friendly attributes of Symbrosia's Seagrazeproduct.

By strategically aligning Symbrosia with impactful events, our agency aims to elevate the brand's presence, foster positive associations, and contribute to a broader conversation on sustainability and conscious consumption.

RESULTS

Through our strategic marketing engagement and consultancy, we successfully elevated our client's online presence, achieving remarkable results across various key performance indicators. Moreover, our efforts resulted in heightened visibility, positioning our client as a thought leader in their industry. This newfound prominence translated into prestigious global speaking engagements, allowing our client to share their expertise on an international stage and further establish their influence within the industry.

In addition to the intangible benefits of enhanced visibility and thought leadership, our consultancy played a pivotal role in securing tangible financial gains. We facilitated partnerships and secured grant funding, contributing to a total financial impact of $50,000. This successful collaboration not only exceeded our client's expectations but also showcased the effectiveness of our strategic marketing approach in driving both online influence and financial success.
